Last September we moved into a house that needed a basement and all new equipment including an HVAC system, hot water heater, well pump, dehumidifiers and someone who could coordinate everything and get it all in place before the cold weather set in.
Harry orchestrated the work including the subcontractors and the end result was simply terrific. Not only were all of the staff neat, personable and on time with the schedule, pleasant to work with and responsive to our trouble calls, our new old house is now tight and cozy in the winter and delightfully cool and comfortable during the humid days we have in the summer.
Thank you, thank you Harry and crew for a difficult job so well done. And appreciation to the sub-contractors for accomplishing their jobs in a really difficult location.
We are most grateful to all who worked on our old house last Fall and this Spring.

I am happy to recommend Harold Whelden Heating & Refrigeration without reservation.
When you need help and don't know where to turn, it can be a very anxious time. I first called Harold under those conditions -- on the advice of a friend -- and, although Harold had never heard of me, he made it his business to put my problem near the top of his list. The problem was fixed within a day!
Now I have the good fortune to know Harold and benefit from his professional and personal service (and that of his office), on longer-term projects or shorter-term crises.

You installed our new air conditioner recently, and we couldn't be happier. You were recommended to us by a friend who told me that you were very reliable and super-affordable.
The installation was painless and the workmanship to be admired. Your crew worked quietly and efficiently. The following summer was so comfortable that we wondered why we waited so long to have an air conditioner installed.
To add to our comfort, also, you added a pre-heating unit attached to our water-heater which gives us 10 minutes of warm air before our furnace comes on in the winter.

I have volunteered to Harold Whelden to comment on the effectiveness of the system he installed in my crawl space in 2004.
I have lived on Nantucket every summer since 1989 in a 5- bedroom house in Nashaquisset which is a neighborhood of 80 single family homes, most of which have crawl spaces. I jury-rigged a room dehumidifier in my crawl space in 1992. In 2000 one of my neighbors had to spend $13,000 to replace floor joists in his crawl space due to moisture.
I still found excessive moisture in my crawl space even though I had water from my downspouts taken underground away from the house. So I decided to have Harold install what he called a commercial dehumidifier and the results were dramatic - my crawl space is as dry as a bone and what little water that is blown in at times through the hatch is well handled by the system. I have a humidistat, which allows me to reduce the humidity a less amount over the winter to save on energy.
